Balkis first, Bunga Tanjung nextPosted: April 30, 2008
After the big hoo-hah in Selangor and Balkis, looks like a similar trend is happening in Penang. They have an association for the “wives of VIPs” in Penang as well, Bunga Tanjung.
Well, after what happened with Balkis, it’s been reported that Bunga Tanjung has been dissolved, and whatever money they had has been donated.
Bunga Tanjung dissolved, funds donated
PENANG: Persatuan Bunga Tanjung, the state organisation for wives of Barisan Nasional assemblyman and MPs, has been dissolved and the remaining funds, amounting to RM590,665, donated to charity organisations and Bakti.
The organisations which received the money were the Bureau of Learning Difficulties, Penang Cheshire Home, Penang Mental Health Association and Mount Miriam Hospital.
Former chief minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon’s wife Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng said they donated RM350,000 to Bakti while the remainder were given to the charity organisations.

Well, well. These wives seem rather restless. Why the hurry to disband something, if it’s main purpose is to do charity? It’s weird. I just don’t get what could possibly be going on in their minds. Are they that unwilling to part with the money that they collected?
But, if it’s all been donated, and going to good causes, then there should be no problem.
But having a look into Jeff Ooi’s blog, it looks like matters aren’t that simple.
I just checked with the Mount Miriam Hospital, which specialises in cancer treatment, had yet to receive a single sen thus far. Can Madam Chui clarify.

Let’s hope that it’s some form of communication breakdown, and the funds have just been late. Or else, these “desperate housewives” are going to be in for it.
