Wan Azizah: PR will move motion to abolish ISAPosted: May 1, 2008
Thank goodness there are real people who are really involved and dedicated with wanting the ISA abolished. It’s no use just talking about it, if all they do is talk. And from what I can read, Pakatan Rakyat is taking this motion very seriously.
Groups: Seek abolition of ISA
KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA and the Human Rights Committee of the Bar Council (GMI-HRC) have issued a joint memorandum to urge all Members of Parliament to lobby for the abolishment of the Internal Security Act (ISA).
Together with them were the family members of ISA detainees who also appeared at a press conference at the Parliament lobby.
In the memorandum, the groups called for immediate and unconditional release of all ISA detainees and where appropriate, prosecute them in a public and fair trial.
The GMI-HRC also called on the Government to apologise to all former and current detainees held without trial and offer compensation for the suffering, anguish and injustice caused to them.
In response, Opposition leader Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the Pakatan Rakyat coalition would move a motion on the abolishment of the ISA on Monday.

I was previously already aware that they were going to table a motion to abolish the ISA. Refer here and here. But, pardon me by saying this, but politicians remain politicians. They can always conveniently forget what they had previously promised the people. And I’m glad that they did not.
I’ll be waiting for Monday.
