Book Fest 2008

There’s a BookFest going on in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre at the moment, and I think it’s a very worthwhile exercise to just go and have a look. From previous BookFests that they have organised before, I found that there are quite a large variety of books available that are cheaper than usual. Back in 2006 when I went, they also had stalls for stamp collectors too.
It’s too bad that I can’t make it this year, because apparently it’s getting bigger and bigger every year, with more participants, meaning more choice of books for readers.
But one thing about it is that there seems to be a tendency towards Chinese Language books, most probably because of the main sponsor of the event. I’m not sure if it’s still like this now, but I felt that it would have attracted even more people to the event if it carried more books in other languages as well.
After all, reading is universal. It can’t possibly be targeted for the Chinese Language reading folk only.
