Anwar files a suit…Posted: June 30, 2008
… but not against the person(s) I thought he would. From what was reported yesterday, I thought the first report would be against the IGP and AG for the alleged misconduct of the investigations back in 1998, and alleged fabrication of evidence. But it seems that Anwar has decided to sue Saiful first.
KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has filed a suit against his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan for allegedly lodging a false, malicious and libellous police report against him.
The suit was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court civil registry by Anwar’s lawyers R. Sivarasa, Ranjit Singh and William Leong at about 10.30am on Monday.

As to why they have decided to “take care” of Saiful before the AG and IGP, seeing as how they have got the “evidence” of their alleged misconduct, only they will be able to answer. And I don’t even want to speculate on something this random.
Anwar, on the other hand, has requested from the Prime Minister himself that his safety be guaranteed, before he even thinks of leaving the embassy.
KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will only leave the safety of the Turkish Embassy in Malaysia if he receives a guarantee of personal safety from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
“I am here because I fear for my safety, and I will leave only if (Prime Minister) Abdullah and the government can give me assurances and guarantees over my safety,” he told the Straits Times in an interview.
He said he has been told of attempts to not just destroy his political career but also to assassinate him.

As to why Anwar would believe that there are people “out to get him”, also only they can tell you. I also don’t want to speculate. It seems rather far-fetched, but then again, at times like this, maybe it’s not so far fetched after all.
It seems like almost everything is circling around the police, the courts and the judiciary. Let’s not forget that there’s still the Lingam Tape issue, the Justice Ian Chin issue, and then the Altantuya murder case, and the most recent developments with RPK’s Statutory Declaration, and then Aziz Buyong and wife filing defamatory suits against RPK, and now Saiful Bukhari lodging a report against Anwar, and Anwar retaliating.
Even just mentioning the different ongoing cases is a mouthful. And it almost feels like everything is a cover-up for everything else.
