Another crime against maid

From Malaysiakini HERE (with subscription):

The 40-year-old housewife who shock the nation when she was charged with grievously hurting Nirmala Bonat had been found guilty by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions court today.

Sessions judge Akhtar Tahir found Yim Pek Ha to be guilty on three counts of hurting Nirmala. One additional count of causing hurt was however not proven.

Yim was charged with four counts of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to the Indonesian, then 19, with a hot iron twice on a day in January and in April 2004, with using hot water on a day in March 2004, and using a metal cup at about 3pm on May 17, 2004.

The girl was only 19. What in the world was the housewife thinking, to have done that sort of thing?

Sometimes reading news articles like this just make me sick with emotions. I don’t know whether to be sad that there are members of society who behave this way, or angry, for very much the same reason.

“Grievously hurting”? Maybe that’s the legal term for it. The way I see it, this is abuse and torture. And not only on one occasion, but multiple occasions.

I fail to comprehend the hearts of such offenders.

*Note: Housewife gets 18 years of prison.

There is always two sides to a story. Only God and these two ladies know the truth of the whole situation. Maybe in truth, justice is not served.

Bear in mind that there are cases whereby the maids have caused hurt and many other problems (robbery with others) to employers that the police force and maid agencies just swept it under the carpet.
